The area below your bed is one of the most underutilized storage spaces in the bedroom. Whether it’s in a master bedroom, or a studio, this spot should be utilized to clear the area from clutter, bring serenity to your space, and Peace of Mind to you.

Great Storage Ideas

  • Use Organizers You Can See Through – There are plenty of options, colors, and materials to
chose from. If you prefer open storage options, buy some simple rolling wood storage boxes The
Container Store is one of my favorite options; however, very often I find great alternative solutions
at great prices in Amazon and Wayfair. IKEA also offers great options for all types of storage
    solutions.
  •  Consider Vacuum Sealed Bags – this is a very economical solution and very practical for bulky
items that will not be used for some time. Bedding, pillows, bathroom mats, are some of the items
people vacuum and store under beds, if they don’t have storage closets.
  •  Opt For Storage With Handles – having handles is important for easy access, especially if the
    containers are not on wheels.
  •  Wheeled Containers Are Ideal For Easy Access – I personally prefer the plastic on wheels
because they are easy to rolling in-and-out, and easy to clean/disinfect with alcohol.
  •  Consider A Bed With Built-In Storage – Beds with bottom drawers are a great solution for
households with limited closets and overall lack of storage space.
  •  Create More Vertical Space With Bed Risers. – you could potentially double your vertical space
when you maximize the storage space under all your beds, dressers and cabinets.
  •  Store some items inside others (within the same category – and that you are not going to use
    any time soon)

Most Items Stored Under Beds

  • Linnen
  • Shoes
  •  Seasonal clothes
  •  Vacation miscellaneous items
  • Luggage
  •  Craft Supplies
  •  Toys
  •  Memorabilia – however, if you follow Feng Shui teachings, they do not recommend you store
memorabilia under the bed because these items can carry emotional energy that could interfere
    with your sleep.

By the way, you can further maximize the storage space in your household by using the same type of
storage solutions under other furniture and cabinets such as under dressers and cabinets. Just make sure
the storage containers colors and materials, and style match, or are a complement, to the other items in the
room.
