In March, the CDC warned that Candida Auris “ a fungus that is antimicrobial resistance (AR) threat, spread at an alarming rate in US healthcare facilities. To make things worse, there is a very high number of people with resistance to the medication mostly recommended to treat the C. Auris infection. The CDC has determined that C. Auris is an urgent threat because it is often to multiple antifungal drugs, spreads easily in healthcare facilities, and can cause severe infections with high death rates.
Health Care facilities need to take extra precautions to keep a safe and clean environment, especially after the additional COVID threats since the beginning of 2020.
