Facts About Floor Maintenance

In a professional environment that undergoes a lot of foot traffic such as an office, restaurant, medical center, or an educational institution, waxed floors provide a professional look that eliminate allergens, and reflects that you really care about the cleanliness of your environment.

In residential, as well as a commercial environments, wax floors minimize the absorption of spills, preventing unwanted stains. It also hides the appearance of minor scratches, scuffs, and dings. Properly maintained waxed floors last years longer than those without the wax maintenance.

Floor Cleaning that involves waxing increases the floor protection and durability. Waxing improves the endurance of the floor finish, especially in high-traffic areas.

The waxing process creates a barrier between the floor and anything that can damage them. This protective layer reduces the chances of the floor being warped by moisture or water damage.

Floor Waxing Products
You should select the right type of product to match your floors. Waxes should not be used on no-wax floors, or on floors with a urethane finish; these types of floors can instead be treated with water-based silicone polish products.
There are two basic types of floor wax finishes available on the market:
¢ Liquid waxes “ these are relatively easy to apply and can be used on linoleum floors and unfinished cork or timber surfaces.
¢ Solid paste waxes “ these take longer to apply than liquid, but last longer and provide a deeper shine.

How often should you wax a floor? Every six to twelve months. In general, floors should be stripped and waxed annually, or every six to twelve months, for heavy-traffic commercial spaces, such as restaurants, or retail stores.

ALERT!
Before starting, any previous layers of wax should be removed using a wax stripping.
